Fishing Report for April 11

Today we fished a half day on the Reef. The conditions were great today….we had good current with the wind. We were able to chum up our limit of nice Yellowtail Snappers all morning long, so dinner was in the bag. Our guests were going to grill their dinner at home. We tried one drop on a Wreck on the way back, but no bite. Wind was East at around 12 knots. Waves were 1 to 3 feet. Finally a nice weather day!

The current was into the wind and, unfortunately, they didn’t want to bite. We put the kites up for awhile, but still no bites. We finally caught some Barracudas for some action. Today was on the rough side. Wind out if the East at around 18 knots. Waves were 3 to 5 feet.

Fishing Report for April 8

This morning we fished a half day with a family of 4. We started off by catching some live bait – Cigar Minnows. We then went to anchor on the edge of the Reef, but a couple of our guests weren’t feeling good so we went to a shallow patch Reef. There we caught 1 keeper Mutton Snapper, a couple of Yellowtail Snappers, a couple of nice Porgies and 3 Silky Sharks. Ended up being a productive day even though the waves were big. Wind was out of the South at 18-20 knots and waves were 4-6 feet on the edge of the Reef….inside the Reef the waves were 2-3 feet.

Fishing Report for April 6

Today we fished a full day and it was a great day! We started off by catching some live Cigar Minnows. We then headed offshore. We caught one nice Tuna right off the bat. It then slowed up so we headed out a little bit further. We found a school of nice schoolie Mahi Mahi. We were able to boat 5. That then slowed up so we headed back to a Wreck. On the way we saw a Sailfish with his sail out of the water. We ran over cast a live Minnow and we were on! We then put our kites up with our live baits and were able to catch two more nice Blackfin Tunas( in the 20 lb range). Also one nice Grouper we had to let go on the bottom rod. Wind was South at 14 knots. Waves were 2 to 3 feet.
