Sunday Funday with the family on the Sandbar!
Today wasn’t as good as the last 2 days with this great group. We tried to catch some Amberjack on the Hump, but ended up fighting 2 sharks for most of the morning (see pic). Then we tried to catch some Tunas, but the sun was up too high and they weren’t biting, so we ended up on the Reef and caught 20 Yellowtail Snappers and a Mangrove Snapper. Wind came out of the West-Northwest at about 15 knots, waves were 3-4 feet out of the West and it was rough and water temp still 84 degrees!
We had the same group as yesterday and had another great day of Tuna fishing on the Hump! We caught 17 Blackfin and Skipjack Tunas! We then came to the Reef where we caught 15 Yellowtail Snappers to finish off the day. The wind was out of the Southwest today at around 10 knots, waves were 1 to 2 feet and the water temp was 84 degrees.
The Tuna bite is still on! We caught lots of Skipjack and Blackfin Tunas today….great day to be on the water in Islamorada, Florida Keys! Just a light South breeze and 1-2 foot chop Offshore. We are going to try the same thing tomorrow morning with the same group and then hit the Reef for some Yellowtail Snapper in the afternoon.
We cruised out to the Islamorada Hump today and caught about 10 Blackfin Tunas and also a few Skipjack Tunas. We then finished off the day on the Reef where we caught some nice Yellowtail Snappers and a big Barracuda! Seas were 1 to 2 feet in the Reef and 2 to 3 on the Hump. Wind was 12 to 15 knots out of the South. Water temp was 84 degrees.
Gorgeous sunrise today in Islamorada! We had a half day and went to the Reef and slammed the Yellowtail Snappers! We had Mark and his wife and brother with us from Ohio! They were going to Lazy days Islamorada to have their catch cooked! Always a great place for lunch and dinner! Wind was out of the Southeast at 10 knots, waves were 1-2 feet and water temp was 84 degrees!
We had a little rain here and there all day, but for the most part we stayed dry. We went offshore to the 409 Hump and caught some Blackfin Tuna for dinner and a big Amberjack as well! The seas were only 1-2 feet , wind came out of the East at 5 knots and water temp is still at 84 degrees! #fearlessfishing #captjoehendrix #budnmarysmarina #offshorefishing #islamorada #florida #floridakeys #tuna #amberjack
